About Us

ENT Flashcards was conceptualised by ENT surgeon Mr Bhav Patel as a means to deliver widely accessible, free, up-to-date, and engaging ENT education aimed at those sitting their FRCS (Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons) exams in otorhinolaryngology.

Dr Alex Lewthwaite, a medical student at Edinburgh University at the time, reached out to collaborate with London-based Mr Patel following an online teaching session. After designing the logo and YouTube channel, the first video on Otosclerosis was published in January 2024.

In the subsequent months, the team grew to include medical students from Imperial College London (Megan Ng, Kiruthigaa Arunan, Isabelle Soo), University College London (Nikhita Nandi), and Newcastle University (Abdullah Alothainah), highlighting the multinational collaboration which online education can foster. Guest consultants with specialist interests from across the country also featured on videos.

With new videos uploaded regularly, the YouTube channel quickly gained subscribers and momentum. In its first year, ENT Flashcards accumulated almost 1000 subscribers and 17,000 views. As of the end of 2025, the channel has over 2800 subscribers and 66,000+ views equating to 3350 hours of watch time.

ENT Flashcards has been the centre of multiple poster and oral presentations across the UK, from the Association of Otolaryngologists in Training annual conference, to award-winner presentations at the ENT-UK Foundation Research conference and the ENT-UK Student & Foundation Doctors in Otolaryngology conference.

ENT Flashcards is always looking towards the next step, with this website being testament to this. The project also has an Instagram page with Multiple-Choice questions based on the uploaded videos.
